Friend, You Are Loved

Disruption.

Disruption. It’s apart of life that many of us despise and try to avoid, am I right? My family has been in a season of disruptions and it’s been a crazy couple days booking a last minute flight to Pittsburgh (my hometown) because my beloved aunt receiving “several weeks to live” from doctors because of her brain tumor. Have you experienced any disruptions in your life lately? ___ Waiting in my bedroom I grew up in was a magazine titled DISRUPTION from my grad school alma mater Fuller Seminary. The articles hit home. Disruptions in health, relationship, employment, finances, goals; can derail us. And when we pray for these things to go one way, and they go another less favorable it can be confusing. It initiates our “fight and flight” responses. We can go to tactics such as denial, blame, feeling of loss of control, fear, anxiety and hopelessness. But, it can also be opportunities for faith work. ___ In terms of disruptions because of death or illness, I believe that God is a healer and all believers will also be fully healed and vibrant in Heaven (that doesn’t mean sickness/death is easy by any means). When Jesus walked on his earth, he touched someone and the were healed. As Christians I believe that we can call down “On earth as it is in heaven.” There is no sickness in heaven, so God tells us to pray that here on earth.” But for a variety of reasons, physical healing doesn’t always happen on this earth. We all eventually die. ___ We’re not just physical beings but also relational, spiritual beings. As those we love face sickness or death there can be major healing to emotional wounds, relational injuries, spiritual brokenness and reorienting our life to what’s very most important. I take so much hope in this verse: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”- 2 Corinthians 4:16 (Ideas taken from Issue#12 Disruption Fuller Magazine; Mark Las Branson, Miyoung Soon Hammer) ___ How might a recent disruption in your life be an avenue to reorient your priorities and allow for avenues of relational healing and peace with God and others? Love hearing from you!
