How could a man who was being tortured during the holocaust find meaning in the horrible situation? Viktor Frankl during his time in the concentration camps realized that it was about his attitude that he had control over. He said, “When we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves.” And “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing the last of human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances to choose one's own way.” Our Pastor @matthewbarnett1 shared these quotes at @angelustemplela this morning. ___ He challenged us with the fact that we have the power over our minds to choose our attitude. Frankl instead of hating his enemies he chose to forgive them and love them. We also have the power to choose to love the people in our lives everyday. We can choose gratitude instead of grumbling, we can choose love instead of hatred, we can choose forgiveness instead of bitterness. When we make our attitudes like Christ’s it can change everything. Anxiety turns to peace, and chains to freedom. Gratitude turns what we have into enough.
